Project Story

A local Morgantown couple requested these beautiful White Oak countertops with a natural
finish. The family had recently moved from town to a charming log cabin on some acreage just
outside of town. After purchasing the home, they made some updates to the kitchen, and they
wanted some new countertops to reflect the rustic style of the cabin. White Oak, a species
native to West Virginia (and found on this home), lent an earthy, natural, and rustic character to
the kitchen that complimented the exposed log walls and timber framing.

The countertops were specified in a 1-½" thickness, and they chose a natural water-based finish
for a neutral color, a high level of durability, and low maintenance. The edge profile was a
classic ⅛" round over profile. The island top matched the countertops, but the thickness was
increased to 2", giving the countertop additional heft and substance, allowing it to stand out and
make a statement.
