About Cherry Creek Countertops

Cherry Creek Countertops’ founder, Thomas Buxton, began working with wood in 2021. Soon after, he began making solid hardwood countertops. He became enamored with the durability, beauty, and unique sustainability advantages of real solid hardwood furniture. He began building countertops in the two-bedroom apartment where he and his family lived. He eventually graduated to a friend’s garage, then a friend’s shop, and eventually began using our current woodshop in Morgantown, West Virginia.

 

Our West Virginia shop is nestled in a hollow near Decker’s Creek and surrounded by temperate forest. Some of the hardwood species on the property are White Oak, Shagbark Hickory, Tulip Poplar, Black Cherry, White Ash, and Red Oak. We are fortunate enough to be located in the center of the most sustainable hardwood resource in the world- the hardwood forests of Appalachia and the Eastern United States.

 

We enjoy working in our beautiful mountain home of West Virginia and honoring our state’s heritage of hardworking men and women who have harnessed our state’s abundant natural resources for the benefit of individuals and communities around the country.
